Recommendation for affected Persons to ensure optimal conservation of evidence

Please contact our Clinical-Forensic Outpatient Center immediately after the violent incident happened as this is the most important precondition for a clinical-forensic conservation of evidence and an optimal examination. Evidence not conserved immediately after the incident might be irretrievably lost. In urgent cases (i.e. sex crimes within 72 hours after the incident) the examination will be conducted during the night.

Affected persons feel the understandable urge to clean themselves, but in order to preserve any evidence please follow these instructions:

  • DO NOT change or wash your clothes!
  • DO NOT shower, bath or clean yourself otherwise!
  • DO NOT urinate!
  • DO NOT eat, drink or smoke!
  • DO NOT brush your teeth or rinse your mouth!
